F.A.Q. Sewing lessons

f.a.q. sewing classes

Is there always room?

No, classes fill up pretty quickly and often you have to wait a while for a spot to open up. This varies greatly from class to class and also from season to season.

After signing up, you will receive an email back with a confirmation within 1 business day. The class of your registration may be full at that time. Should this be the case, I will give you an indication of when I expect to have space
have. You will then be put on a waiting list.

If my class card expires will I lose my spot?

No, the spot remains yours. About two weeks before your lesson card expires, I will ask if you will continue with a new lesson card, and as long as you continue to take consecutive lessons, the spot is yours.

Can I cancel for a class?

Yes you can. You sign up for a set class each week. Should you have to miss a class, you may catch up on it at the other class time, by mutual agreement. Conditions are that you cancel at least 2 hours before class starts, and the class can only be made up during a current class card.

Can I reserve a spot during extended absences?

Yes you can. Sewing classes run year-round with the exception of national holidays and North Holland County summer vacation.

Should you be unable to attend lessons for more than 4 consecutive weeks during your current lesson card, but you do not want to cancel your spot for your chosen lesson time, you can, upon prior payment, reserve this spot for 50% of the lesson fee. These classes cannot be made up, but you will be guaranteed a spot immediately upon returning from the extended absence.

Do you also teach sewing to children?

Yes, my experience is that children as young as 13 or 14 years old can concentrate and be skilled enough to come to sewing class.

Can you bring your own sewing machine?

Yes you can, but you don’t have to. One sewing machine (Brother innovis 15) is available for each student in the sewing studio. But of course you may bring your own sewing machine. Especially as a beginner, this allows me to give you helpful tips regarding your own sewing machine.

f.a.q. PDF sewing patterns

The included sewing instructions will help you from start to finish. It is a detailed description of each step in making the patterns.

You may sell items made with this pattern, and I wish you much success with your business! You may sell the garments only if you are the buyer of the patterns and sew them yourself on small, home bases. It is not permitted to transfer the pattern to another person.

Are seam values included in the patterns?

In the PDF sewing patterns intended for clothing, there is no seam value included. Every fabric works differently, some fabric frays or curls more than others, sometimes you want to measure the pattern or adjust it to your personal needs. Because of this, I chose to sell the patterns for clothing with no seam value.

A recommendation is given in the work description for seam values to be cut.

Patterns for accessories do often include seam values, this is clearly indicated on each pattern.

Are there any videos with the patterns?

Yes, many patterns also include a video with a step-by-step explanation. The video can be viewed on youtube. The link to the video can be found in the work instructions included with purchase of the pattern and in the article description in the web shop.
